MOTUL AND GREEN CORP KONNECTION (GCK) DEVELOP AN AMBITIOUS PARTNERSHIP TO ADDRESS THE PROMISING MARKET OF HIGH PERFORMANCE/FAST CHARGE BATTERIES
Battery performance is at the core of the development of many new technologies and mobilities – and is a fantastic field to explore new business opportunities.
The key limiting factor to increasing battery potential and usage are:
- Size and weight
- Lifespan
- Capacity to accept fast charge safely
Immersed batteries offer exciting new opportunities and innovative possibilities to manage temperature variation, allowing OEMs to increase battery performance.
Motul and GCK join forces to explore promising technologies around battery thermal management, leveraging both companies’ respective expertise and passion for mobility.
Battery demonstrators are already under construction and first lab results have already confirmed the potential of this cooperation to develop relevant and high-performance technologies.
An “eLab Car” is under construction to prove these technologies in the real world. The famous Lancia Delta Integrale, which was a leading racing car in the 1990s, has been chosen as the test vehicle and the first laps are expected to be completed in the next three months.
Motul will also fully support GCK’s motorsport program at one of the most demanding races in the world, the Dakar Rally. With the secret ambition to win this race with a hydrogen fuel cell car, GCK and Motul believe this is a great playing field to stress test these new technologies for wider commercial use, from bus fleets, to sportscars and many others.
Christophe Lacroix, Motul Chief Information and Sustainability Officer, explains how they achieved this: “We’ve developed a dielectric fluid that can dissipate the heat and isolate the cells of the battery. We have aimed for three clear benefits: safer batteries, less fire risk, and more durable batteries with faster charging possibilities.”
Cédric Loubiat, Deputy CEO of GCK Battery: “Enhancing the performance and safety of lithium batteries can only be achieved through immersion. It was therefore essential for GCK Battery to find a leading partner in the development of highly qualified fluids. We are delighted to have Motul's support in the development of these next generation batteries.
ABOUT MOTUL

Unanimously recognised for nearly 170 years for the quality of its products and innovation capacity proven in the most demanding races around the world, MOTUL has also demonstrated its technological leadership being, as early as 1971, the first lubricant manufacturer to pioneer the formulation of a 100% synthetic lubricant making use of esters technology.
Since 2011, Motul has been committed to the professional integration of young people through its Motul Corazón corporate foundation. More than 40 projects have already been supported, in France and abroad, to help disadvantaged teenagers find a professional path by providing them with "tools for life".
ABOUT GCK
Green Corp Konnection (GCK) is a group of industrial companies offering technological solutions to accelerate the decarbonization of transport, particularly through hydrogen.
Our group is organised around 3 divisions:
A Technology & Industry division which brings together all our activities around the development of innovative technologies dedicated to tomorrow's mobility - lithium-ion batteries, electric motors, fuel cells - and their integration into all types of vehicles - cars, boats, buses, trucks, snow groomers - through our recognised expertise in the field of retrofit.
An Energy division division dedicated to supplying green energy – we are able to produce, store and distribute green energy anywhere in the world.
A Motorsport division division which allows us, thanks to our motor racing team GCK Motorsport present in the world rallycross and cross-country championships, to test in the most extreme conditions the technological solutions developed by our Technology & Industry pole.
