With a combined value exceeding £200 million pounds, the Kinrara trophy was the most expensive race ever held – and what a race it was!
With this year‘s Goodwood Revival celebrating its 20th anniversary, the organisers went all out for the Kinrara Trophy, a long time event highlight also known as the race with all the Ferrari 250s. An apt description, as no less than ten Ferrari 250 GTs appeared at the start on Friday. The Italian stallions shared the grid with four Aston Martin DB4GTs, a host of Jaguar E-types, and even a Maserati.
The value of some of these cars was staggering, including a Ferrari once sold for 38,000,000 pounds making it the most expensive car of all time.
You’d think that with such an expensive grid, the drivers would be more careful but nothing could be farther from the truth: the battle during the race was intense and the drivers pushed their machines to the limit as if they were modern race cars. Paint got swapped and aluminium bent as a result.
