ASIA Series: Mikko Eskelinen / Juuso Puhakka win the championship title of PRO/AM ASIA

Five driver pairings and six races - after a busy race day, the German team Leipert Motorsport, supported by MOTUL, was able to set a successful checkmark. In the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia as well as in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe the team achieved several podium victories.

The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia was a tough race: In the first race Richard Muscat started in the #202 Lamborghini from P2. After the pit stop team mate Ben Gersekowski was back on P2 with the Italian bull, but had to park the car in the pits shortly before the end due to a broken drive shaft. In the second race the Australian driver duo repeated their brilliant performance and crossed the finish line on P2 overall and P2 in the Pro class. A well-deserved podium in the strong field.

Celebrations were also held with the sister duo Mikko Eskelinen / Juuso Puhakka. Already in the first race the two impressed with a smooth stint, which brought them fourth place overall and the trophy of the PRO/AM classification. The two Finnish pilots with start number #233 fought some hard fights in the second run - and the seventh overall place and the third in the PRO/AM ranking secured the two the well-deserved championship title of the LST ASIA ProAm, which was duly celebrated by the team.

Europe Series: Final Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe with exciting fights in AM and Pro/ProAm

The Super Trofeo Europe races of the PRO and PRO AM were also full of action: Pavel Lefterov started from ninth place in the #2 Lamborghini, which he moved into fifth place after the safety car. However, after the driver change the duo Pavel Lefterov / Marcel Leipert retired from the race early due to a broken drive shaft. Marcel Leipert, who had jumped in this weekend for Louis Jasper, who was suffering from a illness, convinced with a grandiose start from P15 to P7. At the pit stop Lefterov took over the #2 and started the race again on P7.  Shortly thereafter he lost grip, turned around and hit the barrier hard. No points for the ProAm duo.

On the other hand, the sister Lamborghini with start number #26 was more successful: Starting from sixth place, Niels Lagrange / Frederik Schandorff succeeded in moving forward in the first race. After hard fights, the two finished third overall. In the second race the successful duo added one more thing: After a touch in the first half of the race the fighting spirit was awakened. Lagrange and Schandorff gave everything and finally secured second place overall and the victory of the PRO classification. A great finale to the season for the two Leipert Motorsport drivers!

In the two AM races of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe, things got tough: The two Leipert Motorsport pilots Jake Rattenbury / Aleksander Schjerpen successfully kept out of the biggest start tumults in the first race and were able to defend second place brilliantly. 50 seconds before the end the moment of shock: Schjerpen turned around and was finally ranked sixth. Also in the second race it was not calmer: Starting from P9 Schjerpen moved up to P6 - after the driver change team mate Rattenbury was already on P5. But his forward drive was slowed down by a rival car that touched him and pushed him off the track. In fifth place the duo saw finally the checkered flag.

Successful end of season 2018

After the successful end of the season with many podiums and winning the championship title of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo ASIA ProAm, the grand World Final started on Saturday with three Lamborghini cars. Drivers and teams from the three Cups Europe, Asia and North America competed against each other in order to finally claim a "World Final Champion".

In the World Final, the Leipert Motorsport team secured a total of three podium places and missed the second title win of the season by a very small margin.

Accident prevents championship title for PRO duo Ben Gersekowski / Richard Muscat
Despite bad luck at the start of the first race, Lamborghini drivers Ben Gersekowski and Richard Muscat fought their way through the top-class field of drivers and crossed the finish line on second position. This result put the team in a good position to clinch the title in the PRO class. Unfortunately, the Sunday race was not tailor-made and the team with the #202 had to give up after a racing accident despite catching up.

Strong point-scoring in the World Final for Leipert Motorsport

The freshly crowned champions of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia, Mikko Eskelinen and Juuso Puhakka also proved their skills at the grand season finale. On the 4,085-kilometre circuit the successful duo clinched a remarkable third place in the ProAm category. After this success, starting driver Mikko Eskelinen moved from 26th overall position into the second race. Thanks to a clever pit stop strategy and fair wheel-to-wheel fights the Leipert drivers improved by ten positions and secured seventh place in their class.
But Niels Lagrange and Frederik Schandorff also had reason to cherish the Italian Vallelunga. Starting from seventh on the grid, they drove their Lamborghini #26 through the field and fought exciting duels with their sister vehicle #202 from Gersekowski / Muscat. In the end, the Lamborghini aces saw the chequered flag as a beaming third place. Start driver Niels Lagrange based on this in the second race and successively drove up to the top group with a strong forward drive. After the scheduled pit stop, during which Frederik Schandorff took over the steering wheel, the Leipert team found themselves in second place. A subsequent penalty of 20 seconds put Niels Lagrange and Frederik Schandorff in the lead and pushed them back to seventh place in the race. Schandorff/Lagrange finished the World Final in 3rd place overall.

Team principal Ingo Leipert: The last week was already extremely hard for team and driver, but also mega successful. We were the only Lamborghini team to start with five cars from two championships. We are proud of the championship title in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia and the excellent performance of our 10 drivers during the whole event. The trophy-rain this weekend was an impressive end to the season.

The team's next races will start again in the United Arab Emirates at the beginning of January 2019: Step 1 is the 24h race in Dubai - for the 14th time in a row, followed by participation in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East.
