Aubervilliers, 30 March 2012. With just a short time to go before the start of the 2012 season of the world’s premier motorcycle racing championship, MotoGP, Europe’s leading company in the field of motorcycle lubricants and lubrication, Motul, is gearing up for another exciting season. Two-wheeled competition is every bit as vital to the company as four-wheeled in its research for technical excellence.
MotoGP is the ultimate test for the finest talents in motorcycle racing and Motul has been an integral part of the championship for over a third of the series’ 63-year history. The first round of the eighteen-race series is due to take place in Qatar on Sunday, April 8.
Considered by the French company as a vital test bench and living laboratory for its motorcycle products, Motul has benefited from its involvement in MotoGP to develop specialised, experimental oils specifically to deal with the temperature extremes associated with the high performance engines used in this discipline. This involvement has a direct effect on the products available to consumers on the high street for the benefit of the wider motorcycling community.
In 2012 Motul will be continuing as technical partner for a 23rd year with Monster Yamaha Tech 3, and will be working with them on the new challenge that has come with the introduction of 1000cc engines. Their riders will be Cal Crutchlow (GB) – who showed great potential in 2011 and clinched the Rookie of the Year title – and Andrea Dovizioso (IT) who ended last year in third place in the championship. The team will count on the experience and speed of both in their quest for championship honours.
