JAMES BOND CARS AT MOTUL-BACKED THE CLASSIC

To celebrate 60 years of James Bond on the big screen, a selection of cars from the latest film, No Time To Die, will be on display at The Classic at Silverstone. From 26-28 August, The Classic will feature the cars as a preview to the special charity auction of Bond vehicles at Christie’s next month. The auction, which has 60 lots, will take place live on 28 September and will include seven cars and one motorbike that appeared in the 25th Bond film, No Time To Die. All eight vehicles will be on display for the first time at the world’s largest classic motorsport festival, of which Motul is the official lubricant partner.

“We love celebrating major anniversaries at The Classic, and with our ‘Best of British’ theme, having the opportunity to mark 60 Years of James Bond is very special,” said Nick Wigley, CEO of The Classic promoter Goose Live Events. “It’s the first time these 007 cars will be on display together and we are honoured to host them.”

Silverstone is no stranger to James Bond movies having been used for a car chase sequence in the fourth movie Thunderball – featuring Sean Connery in a legendary DB5 – filmed at the track back in 1965.

Let’s take a look at the Bond cars that will be on display at The Classic.

From Octopussy in 1983 to the new Defender in No Time To Die, Land Rovers have featured in James Bond films for nearly 40 years. Ten pre-production Defenders were created for filming and this model is particularly unique: its VIN number is 007. The car featured in No Time To Die in a dramatic chase scene through forests in Norway.

James Bond and Aston Martin has a relationship stretching back 50 years, and this 1981 Aston Martin V8 is one of just three modified specifically for James Bond’s No Time To Die. It has the same registration as the car from Timothy Dalton’s The Living Daylights (1987) and Bond uses it in the film on a road trip to Norway.

A pair of Range Rover Sport SVRs take part in an epic off-road chase in No Time To Die. Land Rover provided six Range Rover Sport SVRs, and this car is one of the six supplied. The SVRs feature the same tuned suspension of the production cars and they are the fastest and most powerful Land Rovers ever built.

Based on the recently launched Defender V8 110, the Bond Edition inspired by the Defenders that appear in No Time To Die, the stealthy Defender V8 110 Bond Edition features bespoke touches that honour Land Rover’s long partnership with the James Bond franchise such as 007 logos.

To celebrate the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera’s appearance in No Time To Die, Aston Martin created a unique 007 Edition that has the same spec as the car driven by Nomi (Lashana Lynch) in the film. Aston Martin only built 25 cars and they sold out instantly. This DBS has a unique plaque with signatures from producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli and actor Lashana Lynch.

In No Time To Die, James Bond commandeers the bike for a spectacular street chase ending in a thrilling jump into the piazza. The bike was heavily modified to handle the stunt.
